How long have you taught with Reach for Excellence? 

I started at Reach in summer of 2017.

What do you teach? 

English Language Arts

Where did you go to school? 

East Carolina University

How would you describe yourself in middle school? 

I played several team sports (football, basketball, track), so I guess that I was a ‘jock’ to use a term that shows my age

What was your favorite book, music, or movie when you were in middle school? 

I was into breakdancing, so music related to that was my preference.

Tell us about your teaching philosophy… 

Everyone should have the opportunity to learn in a positive and encouraging environment. My aim is to provide a solid content foundation through engaging lessons that include relatable life experiences/skills.

What is your favorite aspect of teaching Middle School students?

The feeling of being a positive influence on the student’s development is my favorite aspect of teaching middle school.

What is your favorite Reach for Excellence memory? 

I always enjoy getting to know my students and interacting with them (and the support of administration and co-workers).

What would you like people to know about Reach for Excellence?

Reach for Excellence is an amazing program that changes the lives of students that take the time and effort to complete it. It provides many opportunities for growth academically and socially. I am proud to boast that I am involved with Reach.
