Musse Woldu, Cohort 2020 R and current Marist senior, has been awarded a QuestBridge Scholarship to attend Princeton University next year. This highly competitive scholarship program provides full tuition, room, board, supplies, and fees for some of the nation’s most elite colleges and universities.
In addition to his stellar academic record, Musse is the President of the Marist Senior Class Council, Team Captain and Varsity member of the Marist state championship cross country and track and field teams, President of the Black Student Alliance, member of the Marist competitive robotics league, Peer Leader, and member of the Marist Honor Council, the National Honor Society, as well as the National Science and Spanish Honor Societies.
Musse volunteered with Reach for Excellence all three summers of high school, helping teach computer science to our scholars. His introduction to coding and robotics came through his time at Reach, and he credits this with inspiring his passion for engineering and STEM. Musse recently talked about his experience volunteering with the program, “Being able to help Reach students investigate what they’re passionate about and seeing the enthusiasm to learn in their eyes is one of the most fulfilling, full-circle experiences I’ve ever had and it’s helped me understand the importance and power of serving our community.”
While Musse is headed to Princeton, his older brother Enoch, also a Reach for Excellence graduate, is a QuestBridge Scholar at the University of Chicago. We wish both of these outstanding young men all the best as they pursue their dreams.
