Reach Graduates Return to Speak at Career Day

On Saturday, December 4th, twelve Reach for Excellence Alumni returned to our campus to invest in our current students.  Jared Alexander (’07 E), Genie Arcila (’06 D), Shelby Ashley (’07 E), Terrance Butler (’09 G), Jocelyn Calvillo (’08 F), Christina Chandra (’06 D), Brandon Fountain (’11 I), Erik Guzman (’16 F), Jay Kendrick (’07 E), Serena Lau (’11 I), Wollinsky Mendez (’05 C), Summer Robinson (’11 I), and Chanel Tobias (’10 H) shared their experience from high school to college to their career path.  They stressed the importance of exploring options and interests while staying focused on academic excellence.  Our graduates represented a wide variety of public and private high schools and colleges, and military service.  They have begun successful careers in business, construction, epidemiology, banking, commercial real estate, software design and engineering, and medicine.  Three of our bi-lingual graduates, Mr. Mendez, Ms. Calvillo, and Ms. Arcila, also spoke with parents of students in our Hispanic Initiative and answered questions about pursuing a college education.  It was invaluable for parents and students to learn from our successful alumni who once sat in the very same classrooms as Reach students. We are so grateful for their time and wisdom offered to inspire Reach students to Commit to the Climb!
